Now that was more like it. Topaz giggled enthusiastically when she heard the sound of the wall eventually cracking under the sword. His plan had worked, whatever it was. Upon the breaking, the arrows ceased to fall and for that moment, she was defenseless.
She wanted to take the chance of casting a spell before the blade surged forward from the pressure of breaking the wall, but even she knew there was no way she'd come out unscathed. Feeling a tad annoyed she had to resort to this, she brought up the hand that kept up the cage and kissed her index finger in a flash. The remaining magic in her nerves allowed her to disappear. In her place swam a flock of sable crows that circled the place she stood and then took flight around the general area. Whether Topaz became one of those birds or had truly disappeared could not be known to anyone but her.

Grilvix thought he had Topaz as the wall began to crack. Finally the barrier was about to disappear completely but the Grilvix wasn’t expecting Topaz to disappear too. As her body vanished, leaving behind crows, the nobody turned and watched the black flock of birds fly around; now this was something he never expected but then again Topaz was rather skilled in black magic.
“What next?” He muttered to himself as he looked around. Where was that little witch? Was she one of the crows or was she hiding. Surely all that magic use had depleted her energy levels a bit. While his composure remained the same his eyes and quick breath could not hide the fact that putting energy into his blade was a risking move.

This personality of Topaz was rather prideful, and took her losses to heart. Her previous battle with Grilvix had been in his favor, surely, and though she would never admit it to him, he won that duel. Naturally, a battle of pure brute force would rarely be overcome by Topaz with her thin limbs.
So when magic could finally be used, she wanted to get back at him. The sound of wings fluttering were heard before Topaz appeared mid-air right in front of Grilvix, as if she was floating. A hand flashed across at the same time, gripping his face in place with an inhuman strength. When her powers were involved, the opportunity to make physical contact with the opponent was a valuable one.
She only needed to a fingertip to paralyze his entire body's nerves, and grinned savagely. Holding back from inflicting damage on him for now, she instead let a stray crow land on her shoulder and used her free hand to pet it affectionately. Having only two hands and too lazy to use her body as a source, the flock provided bits and pieces of her magic to provide an actual defensive barrier for her, a barrier that could only be broken once the crows were dead.
"You can't move~"

‘Finally appeared’ Grilvix thought but was quickly confused when she grabbed his face. Her grip was too strong to be natural but what was the point in this. He moved to grab her wrist and push her back but then it finally hit him. He couldn’t move, he couldn’t even speak.
He growled in frustration, gritting his teeth and glaring at Topaz; or trying to at least. What was her game this time? Grilvix was more disgusted than angry though, he was a man of the sword and honor and this was an act of cowardness in his eyes.

A delighted giggle rippled from her throat and her grip tightened, veins bulging through her skin. She leaned in to bump foreheads with Grilvix, and from a third person's view, the gesture almost seemed tender.
"I could do so many things to you right now. Should I hurt you? Should I not? Should I let you go? Should I smash your face in? Oh, what should I do~" She almost sang the words, and another laugh slash snarl followed.
Her wings perked up suddenly, making the laughter cut off awkwardly. She stared into Grilvix's eyes but wasn't looking at him at all. The orange color flashed in hue for half a second, and abruptly began to growl fiercely.
"Leave me alone! I'm playing with him!" She seemed to be talking to someone, but no such person was around. Her hold on Grilvix's face strengthened further, nails digging into his skin.

The nobody would have been shaking with anger if he could right now. His eyes were telling her to let him go or he was going to rip her to pieces. ‘I can’t let myself get too angry’. He thought trying to think calmly but calmness did seem to be compatibly with him at the moment. Too proud to be defeated by a kid he had to think of a way out of this and fast.
Wait. Who was she talking too? It didn’t mater this was his chance. He glanced to the side despite having nails digging in his skin; a red glowing sword appeared and shot at Topaz’s arm. This was a new ability Grilvix had recently discovered but he had little control over it still.

She hadn't expected her defense barrier to be of any use, so when the spark of light of it being used startled her out of her apparent monologue. Something that looked like a sword tried to pierce its way through, aimed for her exposed arm. Her wings fluttered in annoyance and her grip tightened even more.
"Stupid stupid Girly," she growled to herself, and then louder at the someone. "I said leave me alone! I'm not going to kill him!" She started to mumble. "This isn't even anything bad, geez." Topaz had moved her head back when she started to speak to herself, but now she leaned back in to glare at Grilvix.
"Your stupid swords aren't going to hurt me. You'll stay paralyzed for as long as I want you to, silly~" Her voice was unusually quiet and added more malice to her taunt. The crow at her shoulder cawed to her words before flitting off to join its companions circling the two.

What was up with this girl, what was she planing to do now? Just hold him here, sure enough it hurt his pride but the situation was becoming stale. Kill him? Hah. Grilvix would like to see her try; he didn’t plan on dying anytime soon.
No, this wasn’t the time for that. He had to stay calm, relaxed even if he had to force himself to do so. He stopped gritting his teeth in frustration and a calming sense ran over his eyes. ‘That’s right. I’m a nobody.’ He thought reassuring himself. ‘I don’t feel anger, fear or anything at all.’ Well he seemed to have calmed down, though still frustrated in the back of his mind he pushed those thoughts away and kept reminding himself of what he was.
He looked at Topaz in a way as if to say that she wouldn’t be able to break his composure again. He strongly believed that he was stronger than her in both body and spirit.

Her grin vanished completely rather suddenly. Still keeping a grip on his face, she lifted her free hand and swiped across a section of skin on his collarbone with a finger. She wanted to play with him for as long as she could, so she'd have to injure him slowly. The skin she touched bubbled up and started to burst, blood and pus pouring out from the wound. She spoke as if she suddenly became bored, but her grim face made her soft voice sound venomous.
"Constant pain. I make my enemies feel constant pain instead of killing them. Do you feel anything, Girly?" She asked knowing he couldn't answer anyway, but she liked to humor herself.

Topaz was beginning to sound more sadistic than Trixstan; surprising to Grilvix really. As his blood dripped to the ground though, he would not give her any satisfaction in this game of hers. Yes it hurt, it hurt like hell but his eyes remained as empty as the vast halls of their castle. But how long could he keep this up; how long before Topaz got bored of this? He couldn’t remain as a lifeless doll forever but Topaz must have some limits too.

She released her grip on his head, but kept their physical contact in place. Her eye twitched; again, she heard the voice of one of her other selves at the back of her head, and she tried to will the annoyance away. No one would interfere in her playtime.
Slowly, she lowered herself to the ground, and her wings flapped lightly before resting across her shoulders. She circled Grilvix, a finger dragging across his arm, his back, his stomach, and back to his arm. She glanced at the wolf-woman and Chousen; the two had remained stationary for however long their battle was.
Grinning suddenly, she peered up at the taller Grilvix. "You're paralyzed until I let go of you. That boy seems important to you. What if I hurt him~?"

Grilvix didn’t bother to watch her circle him, well there was no point seeing as he couldn’t counter any attack right now. He felt a tinge of worry when she looked over to Xanthia and Chousen however; yes those two were very dear to him and would never let anything happen to them.
Was she serious? Would she really get them involved in this messy battle? ‘No. Don’t do it. Don’t you dare hurt them?’ He cursed her in his mind. ‘Xanthia don’t just watch get out of here.’ Oh how he hoped the blue wolf-woman could read his eyes.
Well, so much for staying calm. He hated how easy it was for people to get under his skin.

Yes, she had remained still, waited for a victor quick and clear, but now she would stop this, end it, watching blood leak down the pale skin of her second in command.
She stood again, slowly, making her way over to the two, a stern cold expression in her eyes. In sunlight, or any other bright light, she was, though she hated to admit it, rather powerless, her weapon could not be used.
But in this world, there was only and always the cold pale moon.
She lifted her hands, plucking lightly at the air, as if playing an instrument, one hand closing over what appeared to be thin air, though after a moment it seemed to solidify into something she could hold.
Tappying one end with one of the fingers of her free hand she drew her hand out in a fluid motion, bright pale silver light following the movement, and giving her wrist a small flick she moved her finger away, twirling the silver whip in a small circle until she had wrapped it around her hand.
The only weapon she knew how to use, she felt lucky that they had started their fight in the night, when she could actually use it.
she gave it a slight tug, testing it, and a soft ringing sounded from it.
good, still strong...
"very well Topaz" she stated calmly, "I think this fight is over, please stand down" her ears ticked back, calmly looking at the silver whip in her hands, though it was hard to tell if she was admireing the item or if she was merely bored.

Something resounded under Grilvix's skin, and Topaz smiled to herself; he was nervous. Excellent. The finger that remained connected to his arm stayed put as she cocked her head in the woman's direction. The wolf knew her name, yet she had no idea as to what the beast's identity was. Well, it didn't matter. She had found one of Grilvix's weaknesses, and a new opponent.
Not wanting to release the older man from her paralyzing touch (her own weakness of the mandatory nature of this ability that she despised at times), she turned her entire body to face the woman. Her fingers drummed teasingly against his arm as she sneered at her enemy. Stand down? The beast may know her name, but certainly not her character.
"You must be joking." She eyed the whip as she spoke, squinting her eyes in disgust. In her view, material weapons were only another weakness for its user. Disengage it and the person would have to rely on physical force. But Topaz wouldn't so carelessly aim for the whip, not until she knew its properties and devised a plan to efficiently rid of it. She may be enthusiastic about tearing others apart, but was just as devoted to providing for her own protection.
The crows created for that purpose continued to circle overhead, cawing eerily in unison. She outstretched her free hand and let a bird claw itself into her fingers. Her barrier remained strong, and the bird readied itself to be transformed into tangible magic. Topaz stood seemingly aloof but ready for any type of attack from the wolf-woman.

Oh how he wished he could tear that smug little smile off Topaz’s face. How dare she show such disrespect to their master. Even though Xanthia was powerful when the moon was out, Grilvix really hoped she would be able to handle Topaz. He didn’t want her to have to fight though; he was supposed to be protecting her but he wasn’t even able to protect himself. No he wouldn’t allow Topaz to lay even a fingered on Xanthia.
His hand twitched, then for a second it moved and wrapped around Topaz’s wrist in a bone crushing grip but that was all he was able to do before the magic became stronger than his will. He wasn’t able to pull her hand from him but by darkness’s name he wasn’t going to let go until his grip crushed that little wrist of hers. ‘You will not touch her.’ He growled in his mind at the little witch.
