Golden eyes peered down at the water as the grey lion tried to calculate what had just happened. It probably was because of this world. Yes that had to be it. Shaking the thoughts from his head he leant over and lapped at the cool water. Watching as the water rippled from each time his tongue hit the surface.
The water was sweet and cold yet there was still a pit in his stomach. Along with a feeling of doubt. His ears flattened in an aggressive state as his tail flicked behind him. No matter where he went there was always the feeling of something lingering over his shoulder.
He sighed and was about to go lay down somewhere when a peculiar smell filled hid nostrils. It was only then that he realised there was another lion here. His head turned swiftly to look up at the other on the ledge. His eyes narrowed trying to figure out if it was another lion from this world or if it was someone from the castle.

The illuminated gold of the other lion's eyes were so disturbingly familiar, and Xote couldn't shake off the feeling that he knew him. The almost hostile look the lion gave off was also familiar, but Xote wouldn't make any hasty decisions before fully exploring the situation. The lion could simply be an original of this land, anxious at the sight of a foreigner.
Thinking that, the black beast leaped from the ledge and landed cleanly on his paws. The past two hours of running around was plenty of time for him to get used to this body. He strode slowly, cautiously, over to the lake, stopping a few feet across from the other lion. When Xote opened his mouth to speak, he paused a moment to think.
'Can I speak in this body? Hmm...I suppose it would be best to test it out.'
The ghost tilted his dark head upward slightly, his eyes glazing over the grey lion. He opened his mouth just a little and began to speak, running the words through his head as he spoke them. ('Maybe telepathy exists in this land.')
"Ahem...," he stopped, feeling awkward and unsure of how to start, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am called Xote. This land is foreign to me, I...I am not exactly sure how I came upon it." Remembering the hostility the lion was emitting, he added, "I mean no harm to you; I will be leaving now, actually, after I have asked my question.
"Have you seen a..." Would her fur be the color of her hair? That didn't seem plausible. "Have you seen a smaller type of ours, a female? I am here in search of her. She is a dear friend of mine."

Ko tilted his head to the side. "This world you came from seems very interesting. Perhaps one day I will be able to visit it, as well as you maybe able to see your family." He turned and started to pad off towards the watering hole.
"I wish to speak with Grilvix, perhaps you would like to come with me?"

Xanthia let out a soft rolling purr 'but...I don't have any family' she thought silently to herself, she couldn't remember ever being little, ever being raised.
at the question she nodded slightly, muscles rippling under her short blue fur as she followed the cub in front of her, toxic purple eyes darting from him to the surrounding area, as protective of him as any lioness would be of a cub.

Grilvix became a little less tense as the stranger introduced himself. It was rather difficult to tell who was who in this world. A smaller type of lion that’s female; he must have been talking about Topaz. Who else would he be looking for anyway.
“I haven’t seen Topaz around here but I’ll keep my eye out for her.” He replied, at least his voice didn’t change so Xote should be able to recognize who he was without any difficulty.
Turning on his paws he strode over to the near by tree, full of leaves thanks to the water hole, and flopped down on the ground were the shade was. Paws lazily resting either side of his head as his back legs rested to one side.

Was this lion Grilvix? It certainly seemed so; he recognized Xote and immediately understood that he was looking for Topaz. The similarity between this lion and the young man he met in the castle was apparent now.
He watched the lion walk away and land on its stomach, making itself comfortable in the cool shade. At that, Xote had to bite back a low whine. He longed for sleep, but a certain young cub needed to be found because she was sure to eaten up by god knows what was out here.
His ears twitched again (that reaction seemed more common in this land, for some reason), and then his nose itched. He picked his head up sharply; he sensed others. The number he wasn't sure of, but Xote was certain that other lions were approaching. Before he fell into the temptation to collapse right there to rest, Xote perked his claws and stared northward intensely.

Ko tried his hardest to resist the many urges of a cub, like chasing butterflies, or defiantly running off on their mother's. He did well in suppressing many of them but when it came to running off ahead when he say the watering hole that was difficult.
SO When the small Lion male saw the refreshing blue liquid he happily ran ahead and started to satisfy his thirst.

Xanthia laughed softly as Ko rushed ahead, such an eager little guy as a lion. she settled comfortably next to him, looking around slowly before lowering herself to drink, her eyes falling half closed. after a moment she raised her head again, looking at her reflection.
a few seconds passed, and she extended a paw, dipping it into the water and watching as the ripples scattered her reflection. "strange to think that, really, that image of me is no more real than I myself am" she mumbled, glaring at her reflection when it returned, reaching a paw out as if to scatter it again.

Ko happily drank for a few moments before spotting Grilvix and other lion out of the corner of his eye. He took a step back and then started to pad over to them. He was determined to talk with Grilvix even if it meant speaking with this stranger.

Grilvix paid no attention as the two others approached and as soon as Xote saw who it was he was sure the other would relax. Even if he didn’t recognize them as Xanthia and Ko they looked like a cub and a mother anyway.
His tail flicked and his muscles twitched away flies. It was warmer in the savannah than he thought and the shade only dulled the effect of the hot sun. Picking up his head he turned to see Ko padding his way over t him.

Xanthia raised her head, instincts quickly taking over, a cub wouldn't be safe around a male that had not sired it. but it was grilvix, his scent told her that.
so instead of growling she merely followed, walking silently behind the little slate furred cub, half watching him half watching Grilvix, every so often she would merely look at thr ground.

The oddly colored fur of the two lions that approached from the distance couldn't be native to the area. Xote could only assume that the smaller of the two was Ko, his dark blue coat a dead giveaway. He couldn't figure out who the other, larger lion was. It may possibly be someone he'd never met in the castle; he was sure, however, it was someone from the castle because the rich blue fur was certainly out of place in the dirty brown coloring of the land.
Ko was off in Grilvix's direction, and the blue-furred lion was keeping watch from afar. He would speak with Ko later; for now, he decided, he may as well introduce himself to this new face.
Xote touched the dusty ground softly with his paws and walked cautiously over to the lion. He tried to appear friendly, but the black of his fur was enough to color him a dangerous tone. Stopping a good five feet away from the other lion, he waited for a sign of it noticing him before moving again.

Xanthia slowly turned her head, neon purple eyes locking on Xote. who was this...it was hard to tell without a human face to put a name to. but it had to be one of hers, the oddly dark fur was proof of that.
"Hello" she greeted softly, "I'm sorry, I seem to be having trouble remembering your name..." she flicked her tail, ears twitching, "it's me, Xanthia, if you cannot recognize me"

'Xanthia'... He remembered the name floating somewhere in a past conversation with Topaz, shortly after receiving her orb. His friend seemed so enthusiastic about the gift that he assumed Xanthia must have been a rather important person in the castle.
The lioness before him now appeared harmless enough, and quite honestly, Xote was intrigued by her. Something about the woman-turned-beast was trying very hard to get his attention.
He moved on to introduce himself. "I believe we've never met before, Xanthia. You may call me Xote. I am sure you are familiar with Topaz; I am a friend of hers."

Ko completed his journey by walking in front of Grilvix and giving him a hard glare. "What were you trying to pull back there?" He whispered so Xanthia couldn't hear. "You looked like you were about to sink your teeth into her neck."
